[UK-CONTEST] More on these websites

Wait a minute, (and if you think you're fed up with this, you need to be in
my head!)

I have found the links under OPERATING on the rsgb.org.uk site - great! I
clicked the link for IOTA which incidentally says "Islands on the Air awards
programme has its own contest". Er, that's not English.. I think it means
that IOTA has its own site, not its own contest... <woops someone>.

And the link is here:

http://www.contesting.co.uk/hfcc/iota.shtml

Which is broken..

Anyway, at least I have found the third site for IOTA.

I am now going to spring clean all our antennas for VHF field day since I've
had enough of this drivel. Clearly everyone everywhere doesn't know what
everyone else is doing, Fair dinkum, you should have said that in the
beginning instead of trying to hoodwink me into believing that RSGB was a
well managed corporate entity with clear goals and communication strategies.

(and I still don't know who's in charge)

Seemples :)

Stop the press, let me add this: Why is IOTA in two separate places - I now
find it here as well:

http://www.vhfcc.org/hfcc/iota.shtml

I note in the very first line of the rules:

1. GENERAL The aim of the contest is to promote contacts between stations in
qualifying IOTA island groups and the rest of the world and to encourage
expeditions to IOTA islands.

>>> qualifying IOTA island groups <<<

.. and I get that from the other site, right - but from 2007?

Yeah, I'm getting it now (not).

These are mountains chaps, not molehills. I have been 100% proved that I
don't understand how all this works. Clearly I must have a point since there
are various sites on the web that impersonate the RSGB. You are happy with
that? They hoodwinked me, I can't be the only one.

OK, so let's say I turn up as a newcomer (which clearly I am since I know
nothing about how you organise yourselves) if I am to stay corporate and
follow the rules, I go to the RSGB's home page but the word "contest"
doesn't even exist on the home page. There is no logical link from RSGB to
any contesting pages (and all the other weird domain names that exist). Did
anyone hear that? You have to ACTUALLY KNOW where to go to find the
information in the first place or start at Google.

And very lastly for this round of drinks (not withstanding that most of my
other questions still haven't been answered), I know that
http://www.rsgbiota.org/ is also owned by the RSGB because I'm now doing my
homework:

- Registrant ID:10686937608150
- Registrant Name:Radio Society of Great Britain

1) Why isn't there a link from the main site to here and 2) why is it that
the pages from 2007 are available to download, not 2009?

http://www.rsgbiota.org/info/directory.php

>> "The following pages from the 2007 edition of the IOTA Directory are
available to download"

It *feels like* to me that the people who run the profit-making RSGB don't
want to be associated with the contesters. Someone somewhere needs their
heads banging together since it's a bloody shambles.
