[UK-CONTEST] BERU, websites and mature but cunning contest operators

Hi

As the instigator of one of the 'unofficial' contest websites, I first
put up the site because there was not much, if any, background info on
the Commonwealth Contest (aka BERU) . I felt at the time, and still do,
that the sort of general info which I put on the site makes BERU much
more interesting to participants. This was especially true in the case
of pictures of entrants, their set ups and their soapbox comments - the
sort of human interest stuff which will rarely if ever, make the
official results pages. As a result of the book I wrote, I have a big
pile of stories and analysis.
As BERU is an RSGB CC contest the rules must appear on their site and
sites such as mine should merely point to the RSGB page.
The latest band activity analysis on the BERU site is an attempt to try
and interest people in thinking about how they might optimise their
operating to make best use of time availability (12 or 24 hrs) or
station capabilities or even where to travel to next.

One thing about contesting is that age has little to do with your
success or otherwise - but native cunning, maturity and operating
skills do.
