[UK-CONTEST] Watts for Contests

I was reading some of the QRZ.COM headlines when I came across this news
release from the EI equivalent of the RSGB on a meeting between them and
the UK equivalent of Ofcom.

The article is to be found at :
http://forums.qrz.com/showthread.php?t=194491

The bit that attracted my attention was:

*Additional Power*
No general increase in power levels is to be granted for the present. It
was agreed that the Society would make an application for a general
increase in power for the duration of a list of specified International
Contests.

From this looks like our only neighbour with which the UK has a common
land border with is actively seeking higher power for contest operation
and their regulator is not against it at this time. If they do get
higher power then the UK will be loosing out to our nearest neighbour.
So what do we do? Turn the wick up anyway or operate in a low power
category or start agitating for higher contest power?
