I have just completed a review of the 40m, 80m and 160m QSOs I have had in contests and plotting them on a map shows a definite Dipole pattern. Not really surprising when you consider that I use dipoles and inverted vees on those bands. In the mid/late 60's and early 70's every time I was moved by the RAF I built myself beeercan verticals (44 Tiger Beer cans in series was a quarter wave on 20m and it had a wonderful bandwidth). I think that I need to reenter the verticlal world and (as I can no longer drink like a fish!) I have been looking at the adverts! I found a new Hy-Gain vertical (AV6160) and an MFJ vertical (MFJ 299) but despite a lot of reading and web serching I cannot find any differences between them (other than the price). The Hy Gain web site even looks like the MFJ site.
So heres the questions does anyone know if there are any differences between the 2 antennas and are Hygain and MFJ the same company these days?
