[UK-CONTEST] Replying

Callum

If for no other reason other than you seem to be a lone voice espousing
what seems to me to be an eminently sensible p.o.v., let me say that I
for one support your stance. As it happens I am a member of one other (
but just the one) group which defaults the way of uk-contest and that is
also a British run group. Mostly, Brits run things better, but their one
problem i.m.o. is serious resistance to change, a.k.a. the OF syndrome (
trust me on this, I am one!).

Whether the reply to, or reply to all option is selected, I will be
copied personally with the opinion unless the user specifically deletes
the address line in his/her mail client, and frankly I don't want much
of that stuff in my personal in-box which is already congested with
unwanted mail. A forum is a forum, and that is where all correspondence
thereto should default unless the responder believes it is of specific
interest solely to the poster, in itself quite a dangerous assumption
i.m.o. If a user is sufficiently foolish or undiplomatic to call someone
a silly so-and-so in public that is their problem, from which they will
soon learn or be shunned by their peers. It will be a valuable lesson, a
sort of rite of passage in the use of public forums.

Change is good; especially when it changes the way I want ;-)

Keep on doing it.
