John, you are entitled to believe what you like and I'm sure there are
difficulties operating so close to mainland EU, I'm sure band congestion
is a problem there but that kind of proves the point that your location
plays a huge role in your success.
Regardless of your opinion stated here, there are stations who consider
that they own a frequency, they also rarely beam toward the UK and they
do work significantly more DL's than those further West can do. That is
the nature of their location.
All that is being suggested here is that for some contests it would be
possible to modify the rules to encourage inter UK contacts. That would
potentially increase activity.

I have no interest in promoting sections for people with verticals, no
interest in ego boosting sections - that's all nonsense. we need to
encourage people to set up sensible efficient stations so they
experience just what can be achieved on VHF/UHF if there is to be any
hope of re vitalising the bands.
Failing that it's going to be just Icom's and G5RV's for the future of
the hobby.
