The G8VR design (and later revision) was originally printed in Practical Wireless.

I think though that you may find details on the UKSMG site.

It's quite gratifying to hear it wasn't just me!

I suppose what I should really do is get on to Moonraker and see what 
they say, although I have the feeling that would not get me very far.

It rather looks to me like some designed it by computer modelling and 
assumed it would translate to the physical world without any further 
tweaking, such as boom factor correction.  I get the impression the 
whole thing is just too high in frequency.

What is this G8VR - any source of info?
