The answer is obvious - have more contest categories.
Last year I operated on and off in the HF IOTA contest just to pick up a
few islands. I put an entry in so that I could claim the credit for the
islands without QSL cards. This morning I got a nice certificate in the
post for coming second in the Single Operator, Unassisted, Mixed mode,
12 Hour, Low Power section. If there was an additional class for only
using an 80 metre dipole on all bands, then I might possibly have come
first.
