On which theme, I recall that one year (probaby very late 60s) in MCC, UMIST (G3CXX) branded themselves as the Technical Institute Transmitting Society for the occasion  A sense of propriety prevents me from writing down the acronym, but interested readers can work it out for themselves........

Wasn't Mrs Thathcher's local society on that wavelength first - The Finchley Amateur Radio Society?
Pretty sure the abbrevaition was heard as an exchange required for the old Short Wave Magazine MCC Contest.
