Hello Iain
You'll find the first few hours of the contest are likely to be the busiest,
with stations tending to work their more local neighbours. After that there
will probably be more chance of working some more distant stuff, and in the
early morning there may (or may not) be some especially long QSO's in a
"dawn lift".
Traditionally, G station support for this contest is not high. It will help
therefore if you have a good take-off for the east through to south.
Don't forget that the rules allow two separate periods of operation to make
up the 6 hour bash. So you could start on Saturday afternoon and if it's
going well you could run a straight 6 hours then. Or, if conditions don't
seem good, you could cut short your Saturday operations and join in again on
Sunday.
What-ever you do, good luck, and hope to work you (assuming that our
respective 6 hour periods overlap!).
Regards
John G4ZTR

Subject: [UK-CONTEST] 144Mhz CW Marconi contest
I'm considering doing a 6 hours stint in the 144Mhz CW Marconi contest .
Anyone any suggestions as to what time and whether Sat or Sunday would see
the most activity?
I need to inform the Boss (xyl) before the weekend when I'm likely to be
"contesting " !
Tnx in anticipation
