Hmmm.....conditions North-South at the start of the evening were the best
I've ever heard in a 2m Act event (I've done them most months over the past
2.5 years), signals from GM into IO81 were much bigger than usual and you
were a genuine S9 with me Andy, over a 500km path.
But the fading did get very bad as the night progressed, for the first time
I actually lost a QSO when the other station didn't appear back out of the
QSB, even though I could tell he was still there.
You are the furthest north I've heard in one of these events, I usually
hear/work GMs in IO75, IO85 and maybe IO86 but that's it.
Activity seemed down last night, compared to previous months. Didn't work
anyone in IO90 which was unusual, also lots less from JO01, although PE1EWR
made a very welcome appearance right at the end of the contest. Dunno where
all the ONs have gone, used to work them regularly but none for a good few
months.
