[UK-CONTEST] ADSL Modem RFI

I use a Netgear DG834 ADSL modem / wireless router, which is reckoned to be
one of the better models, but one whiff of 160m or 80m and it used to lock
up instantly. Recently I bought one of these, fitted it onto the incoming
master socket and ALL my lockup problems went away.

As well as two sockets on the front and the telephone line terminals at the
back, this faceplate also contains terminals on the back to extend the ADSL
signal if you don't want to plug your modem/router into the master socket. I
used a spare pair in the internal wiring of the house to take the ADSL
signal through to the room where I have my modem/router. There I fitted a
second telephone outlet socket, purely for ADSL. Into this second socket I
plug a modified ADSL filter, just to use it as an adapter from the BT type
socket to the ADSL modem type socket. I modified this filter for ADSL use
only by opening up the case and removing the two inductors at the input of
the telephony filter (the ADSL signal goes straight through these, with no
filtering anyway). It works fine and doesn't look any different to a
standard ADSL filter, so here's a tip... Mark the filter and socket "ADSL
only", so that nobody will accidentally try to use either for a telephone.
