[UK-CONTEST] 50MHz UKAC 24th Nov 2009

Unfortunately, my contest 'partner in crime' is recovering from surgery, so
this months 6M AC wasn't ever likely to have been on the cards anyway.
Looking at the torrents of rain, which were lashing down at home around 2230
last night, I can only say that I was glad not to be out there trying to
strip a station down - dry suits would have been a necessity!
I had a brief listen from home, using a 70cm/2M/6M tri-band antenna I have
at about 25' and could only hear a couple of local stations and they were
fairly weak....I'm beginning to suspect a problem with that antenna...so I
also gave up.
Hoping for better conditions next month!

I gave up after 25 minutes, which is not like me at all. The weather here
near the south coast was so wild that I never dared raise the beam to over
25ft, but with the antenna so low I get increased levels of local noise
because I am beaming at some houses, rather than over them. To make matters
worse, with the antenna low I get RF feedback and breakthrough into the PC's
keyboard when I beam towards the shack.
