[UK-CONTEST] CQWW SSB - Some thoughts

Dare I say that a quick tune around the SSB section of 27Mhz, will offer
good clues so to what should be happening on 10M. The CB folks have nowhere
else to go, so there are always folks around to benefit from the slightest
opening.

Yes, Darrell. Many folks tune across the band, hear nothing and QSY LF. If 
that. A good idea is to leave the RX on 28200 for a few minutes whilst 
pottering in the shack. You hear amazing things from those NCDXF beacons! 
ZS6EZ (with big beams) always said that he could open ten metres to Europe 
any time he liked just by calling CQ. It is the high levels of activity in 
big contests which 'make bands open'. Course, a few sunspots do help!
