Hello,

 

Farm animals have to learn that electric fences "Hurt" and once this is done the equipment can be disconnected for perhaps 2 weeks and the naked wire will work satisfactorily on its own.  However the animals eventually forget and need a reminder when they do get their noses on the wire again.

 

They also work for two legged animals who fear the worst and won't experiment so you do not need the equipment attached either!
