I assume from you comments you dont do VHF contest? I work around 100 qso's 
 on a Tues night with my set up. Yes location is key as is SKILL. I too 
find HF  boring! Oh yes I have come 3rd on 80m SSB afs with my TS2000X Well I 
did have to  give the others a head start! As for CQWW won my section in that 
too! The main  difference between VHF and HF contests is those on VHF as a 
rule exchange  meaningful information on the other hand HF give meaningless 
information as most  of the time all you need is the call

Why  not just accept that different contests require different skill sets 
and  
this is what attracts different operators to different contests

At  VHF its location, location, location! nothing to do with operator  
skill!

prove me wrong and win the vhf championship from GM,GI or GW  where you 
dont 
have lots of DL and PA stations a few hundred Km  away!
