Some of you are using the change in DXCC rules as a reason to drop RST.
Although it is true that you don't need it for that, I am sure there
are plenty of other awards out there where it is a requirement to have
it on QSL cards. I even looked at the IOTA progamme rules but it is not
mentioned in those - but the on line application and linking to the
IOTA contest may well have a box to put it in. In any case, I think
most amateurs (contesters or not) would expect it shown on the cards
they receive, be it 599 or anything else...
Defaulting to 599 has really only happened since computer logging
became the norm. Certainly looking back in my logs most people were
still sending proper reports in the late 1970s.
Maybe we should mandate real RSTs and penalise those sending more than
(say) 50% 599, and harsh penalties for each miscopied one.....
