Yes - I think exchange of real RST would be an improvement in terms of managing the relationship with non-contesters and also casual contesters, and I'm pleased that real reports are still the norm at VHF and above. However, I probably haven't sent a 'real' report in an HF contest for 20 years. I'm not sure that's a good thing, but I won't be changing my behavior  anytime soon for the obvious competitive reasons and because the behaviour is just too embedded now at HF. I was looking back at some paper logs on the Internet of CQWW from the early 70s and the 5NN default wasn't in place then, but neither were we anywhere close to the 10000+ QSO single op in a weekend record of N5TJ.
