[UK-CONTEST] Operating a 24 hour contest and staying awake?

As an erstwhile MoD contractor (now retired), I know of some 
preparations that are used to maintain vigilence during NATO exercises 
(and of course real operations) that can easily range up to 48 hours in 
duration (not dissimilar to contests in many ways).  What is the general 
opinion as to whether use of such is within the spirit of RSGB events?
