This contest needed more than a simple fixed wire sloping dipole! Got going
around 1400 on Saturday and after a slow start was delighted after 45
minutes to get a 30 minute slot to W/VE. Great things ahead I thought but it
wasn't to be. Thereafter it was a case of picking up what could be heard
(which wasn't a lot) and heard nothing new after 1745. Up early on Sunday to
get the eastern DX and was rewarded with a short run into UA9. Thereafter it
was back to the noise and the aircraft reflections, with very short openings
in various directions. VE, HK and others all appeared briefly but
disappeared within seconds and there were many that got away. Best of the
day was HI and VP5 with the last QSO at a disappointingly early 1416. Thanks
to a few of the locals for topping up the QSO count.
45 QSOs, 35 CW and 10 SSB. Log submitted. LOTW and e-qsl updated.
