Perhaps not fully on topic, but this may be of interest.
My old wireless router shuffled off its mortal coil yesterday so it was down to PC World this morning to get another one before AFS. I went for a Belkin N+, for its range and speed.
When I got it connected it installed perfectly on the base computer, but neither the shack computer or my laptop could find the signal. After a lot of farting about I consigned it to the "defective when purchased" box and, having no time to uninstall it before AFS, just threw it behind the computer desk, in with all the wiring. Imagine my surprise to discover that the shack computer had now found it and connected.
Two hours of post-AFS tests have shown that the signals are TOO STRONG and are causing blocking. The laptop works wonderfully down the bottom of the garden, but not in the house! My daughter, whose room is up two floors, is ecstatic 'cos her playstation connects like lightning, and I now have an enamel basin upturned over the dongle in the shack.
MORAL - you can have too much of a good thing!
