I think this is an excellent idea. Making ROPOCO 1 (April) an evening
SSB event and leaving ROPOCO 2 (August) a early morning CW event. Of
course the real mode for complex data exchanges is RTTY may be ROPOCO 3?
Also how about making more of the overall ROPOCO leadership table? This
would then encourage guys into the CW event to maximise points in the
overall table.
Looking at the 2010 rules for this event then more could be done in the
rules to highlight the two combined results and the overall winner's
trophy. It is not obvious on a quick read.
As a member of Verulam ARC, I am sure I could persuade more club members
to compete in a evening SSB ROPOCO1 than a early morning CW especially
as ROPOCO 1 is for The Verulam Silver Jubilee Trophy. I find it easier
to motivate the locals to evening events than morning ones.
SSB Chinese whispers will produce different distortions of the PO Codes.
I wonder if it will be more accurate than CW? At least it will remove
the distortions caused by CW sending errors. Is it time to get rid of
the artificial and unnecessary 59(9) bit of the exchange and make the
exchange PO code only?
