I am afraid this is a suggestion I strongly oppose. Removing serial 
numbers or anything else that cannot be predicted from just the 
callsign alone is bad. Contesting should be more than just rate, it 
should be considered as an exercise in communicating. Correct copy of 
something unpredictable like a serial number (or eg a postcode in 
ROPOCO) is an excellent way of improving your communication skills. In 
the case of IOTA removing serial numbers from all island stations would 
mean for instance that nobody in the whole of the UK would be sending 
any serials....
No, dumbing down contests like this is bad.
