I don't have any personal experience of putting one up, but Flight Refuelling, who we run VHF FD with, put a rotator at the bottom of their masts. I understand they raise the mast into vertical position first, guyed with a ring and then lift the mast to allow them to drop the bottom of the mast into a rotator that someone else slips into place.
