[UK-CONTEST] K3 Building

Hi Jim

I built a basic K3 about 18 months ago, and have added various options since
then, including the P3.

Assembly is not a big deal. You need to be methodical and able to follow the
excellent manual. There are lots of similar (but different) screws and they
are quite small, but fittings for the various stages of assembly come
separately packed.

If your eyesight is half decent (mine is very poor) and you have a steady
hand, you should expect to get through it in 8 to 10 hours - not all in one
go ! Don't try and make a record for the fastest assembly .........

You may already have found that the manual is available on the Elecraft
site, so you can read it and prepare in advance. A manual also comes with
the kit.

I have ordered a new K3 kit to build for a friend who is unable to attempt
the construction.
Any tips from experienced K3 builders, is it really as simple as most folks
make out, any pitfalls, how long will it take?
