Eddie - you beat me to it.
This seems like the same problem of Start/Finish Times from 20-30-40 years
ago, just different technology, and some different participants.
Since recently going out portable single-handed in 50/70MHz contests, one of
my big worries is having forgotten my battery-powered alarm clock, and not
having enough pens/pencils to fill in my paper log and checklog.
The alarm clock keeps good enough time, and the paper logs don't get
corrupted or need to be "saved" - maybe blow-away across the moors, but
thats another story.
A little common-sense needs to be applied, as Dave YMC says.
(I can hear some CQWW participants chuckling, with their 4-digit serial
nos.)

Hello,
What's wrong with a watch? I goes well with a paper log!
I use a small MSF locked clock which sits nicely by the radio.
I'd be interested in what tolerance in timing is employed by the contest
adjudicator, not just at the beginning and end of the contest but also
during the event.
WRT timing, if a QSO starts in the last minute it usually completes in the
last minute and I see nothing wrong with it running over by say 30 seconds
or so.
Deliberate QRM cannot be condoned in any circumstance.
Just my opinions!
Regards,
Eddie
