[UK-CONTEST] SSB Field Day Result

Ed, GW3SQX, the Contest Committee chairman is unavailable for a few days, so I think it best that I reply as the adjudicator concerned.

A complaint was made about apparent self-spotting shortly after the contest. This was discussed by the Contest Committee to decide what action should be taken. In this case it appeared that the spots were not made by the operators and not directly from the site, but were the result of club members being “over-enthusiastic”. In such a case we thought the most appropriate action was to issue a warning to MM0AOQ and advise them that such spotting could result in severe penalties in future... a suspended sentence, if you like. Having looked through the log closely I believed that no significant benefit resulted from the spotting that would have affected the result.

As this was the first such warning to be issued, I would have preferred to have reviewed it (and the policy) at the Contest Committee meeting this weekend. However in light of comments on here, we decided to send the warning immediately. A message was sent yesterday and it is now with the MM0AOQ team to put their house in order for future contests.

Tom,
no we ws not contacted by anyone regarding this issue.
So we had no chance to defend ourselves which i think is rather unfair considering the circumstances!
