Lee, Olof and Rob, plus anyone else that is interested.
Thanks for the reply's and suggestions however ive solved the problem very
easily by down loading a programe called Gsplit................nothing to do
with splitting up G-Land, but handles spliiting large files very easily.
http://www.fxfisherman.com/forex/downloads/p13_sectionid/1/
Download the raw data, extract that into a file then run Gsplit, hey presto it
creates small files that can then be messed about with in Excel. And its
free, you have to go through a procedure to register with the website that takes
a couple of minutes, sit back and then await the inevitable increase in spam!.
Anyway it has solved my problem nicely, the intention is to keep my eye on the
bands over the next couple of weeks before CQWW, whilst unable to get to a
radio!
Olof, your to take the blame for this by intorducing me to this at the
convention, great talk by the way.

Hi Steve,
There's a few different ways to crack this.....
1) Use Notepad or a (try before you buy) editor like Textpad which will handle
> 65k rows of data, and copy chunks of data to different Excel worksheets. You
could have different sheets per hour, day, prefix etc. and eventually sum
everything up. This may not work depending on what you want to do with the
data.
2) Use MS Access. Access will import very large numbers of rows, which you can
process, and export summaries of the data to manipulate further in Excel etc. if
you wish. You may not have Access already so there's a cost involved, as well
as learning how to use it.
3) Get a new copy of Excel. The latest versions don't have a 65 thousand row
limitation. This is not free, but you would be future proofed!
4) Find a free database solution on the Internet e.g. mySQL, but this would also
require some time to learn, which may not be what you want to do.
Good Luck.

Subject: [UK-CONTEST] Reverse Beacon Network - Handling the data
Hi Chaps,
Wonder if anyone else is down loading the reverse beacon network data that is
available for analysis. I am OK so long as it dosnt go over 65K rows of data
which is the maximum that Excel will handle.
Question is what data hadnling tool do you use if, as happens at the weekend
there is a massive amount of spots available to be looked at.
I am sure there will be a simple answer to this one, ive looked on the RBN
website and it does point out this problem but so far searching/trawling through
ive not come across an answer.
