[UK-CONTEST] RSGB 21 / 28MHz Contest 2010

I haven't dabbled in this one for a while, mainly through EMI problems on
these two bands. I put up a ground mounted dual-band vertical at the end of
the garden to see if that would get me on in the restricted section. I
needn't have bothered about 10m. Only 22 Q's, nearly all of them in the
morning. As soon as propagation swung round to the south and then west I
wasn't loud enough, and couldn't hear much anyway. I felt a bit in limbo -
not being able to do anything else for risk of missing an opening, so in the
end having a bit of a boring time.

I am a bit reluctant to see it go because it's one of the few events that
have a restricted section, but then again if you end up having no one to
talk to there's no point to it. I can't put big antennas up and I have no
linear. I want to have some fun competing from home on a reasonably level
playing field with others in a similar position. For this reason, I love the
80mCC events. The 21/28MHz contest has all the ingredients I want except the
ability to make sufficient Q's. Of previous suggestion made, I quite liked
the idea of extending it to 20m.

73,
Andy, G4KNO.
