Hi David, Of course I am a bit out of range to have heard those 80 mtr events, I only know what i have read and that is that participation has been way above committee expectations.
 
Of course many guys suffer time restraints but if we can get to those who are available, who wouldn't ordinarily be interested, but could gain a few points for their club, that would make a big difference to overall activity and they may find that they actually enjoy it and hang around longer than first intended.
 
All I am treying to do is to get guys to throw ideas into the pot before the weekend when committee are to discuss the future of this contest.

I'm not sure it is because of UK clubs that 80m is a success. If you're referring to the CC contents on a weekday evening, I for one try to take part in those, other weekday events permitting.  I have little opportunity to take part in a long weekend contest.
