Hello again Paul
My, arnt you going a bit odd in your old age!
If somebody wants to shoot lions in Africa by remote control, then thats
their business, not mine. Personally I dont approve of shooting lions
whether remote or not...
But back to business. If I were to erect a station in Ireland, but
operate it remorely from my home - what call sign would I use? I can't
use GM4FDM, because as the signal is emanating from Ireland I'd need an
Irish call. So I take out EI3FDM and, from my own home in Scotland
activate my TX in Ireland and use the call EI3FDM giving the QTH of the
place where the station is located. I abide by the Irish rules and
regulations pertaining to amateur radio and conduct my station
accordingly. Now, assuming I am not in a contest or award scheme which
specifically by their rules prohibits such actions, what possible
argument could you have with my setup? Like I said in a previous post,
my headset suddenly has a 300 mile long lead. So what?
I'm not pretending to be in Scotland or Timbuktu.
Would there be any difference if I was located at home here in Paisley
and built my station at the top of Ben Nevis and operated it remotely
via a 2m or 70cms link?
If you figure there to be a difference - what is it?

That my get up and go - has got up and went
