More seriously, I won't be able to compete with Paul in offering such ground 
breaking features as his latest SD.

But on fonts and Minos: this is completely down to a lack of time. As many 
of you will know, I am also on the contest committee, and write the 
adjudication software used by the committee; this actually takes most of my 
"free" time (which is mainly on the train while commuting to London).

I know how I want to achieve things like variable fonts, but the current 
code base and tools don't lend themselves to it. I had it in there 
experimentally at one time, but couldn't persuade the layout to work 
especially at large character sizes.

Minos partly works if you set Windows to use "large fonts".

I'll have to find some time to see if I can just vary the font size without 
changing the actual font.

In the meantime, have you tried running your monitor at a "non native" size 
- e.g. run a 1024x768 monitor at 800x600? This will stretch everything, but 
on some monitors and some resolutions can end up looking terrible.
