Hello,
It was an interesting last session of the 70 MHz UKAC contest on Tuesday
evening, blessed with poor conditions and long deep QSB!
I was out /P as usual in Co Durham.
Scores for me were the lowest this year and I need to go back two years to
find a similar low score.
What was interesting for me is that G4FZN/P only 70 Km south of me made 64
QSO's to my lowly 31 QSO's. He was also best DX of 20% of the claimed scores
so far.
Chris (FZN) was at a better site with full power, I only had 40 W but a
similar antenna. Usually he is ahead of me but not double!
I did hear some weak callers, didn't hear others (Sri G4BRK) and I also got
the odd QRZ but all in all a poor performance.
The events of the evening didn't end at 2230, as I was taking down the
antenna a car came racing up the hill, missed the 90 degree left bend and
shot past me into the rough at 50 MPH! I spent 30 minutes trying to pull him
out but he was well wedged over a hump.
Arriving home late, a glass of whisky helped me sleep.
Oh well, roll on next year.
