[UK-CONTEST] RSGB Contests 2012

Although I welcome the addition of a distance rule, I am not sure the
system to be implemented has been that well thought out. It is puzzling
that for the CC the distance is defined as 35km whereas 50 miles is
allowed in AFS, a very different figure!

It is also not clear how a club tells the robot whether your club will
be entering the general or local section. If you put your club meeting
details in one of the first entries of the year does that automatically
class you as local? What happens, because of shortage of time for
communication between members, one of the more distant members submits
an entry (like he has been doing for donkey's years) unaware that the
club has elected to be 'local' this year. Will the club be
re-classified or will the DX member be disqualified? The rules for
members with a nearest club over 35km are also very vague and sure to
cause much confusion.

As a minor participant in these events, usually around half way down
the ladder, we have at least one member well outside the 35km limit. He
comes on, as a former meeting attendee who has moved away, to show
support for us and it all adds to the inter-club spirit. We will be
taking the easy route and going in as 'general' as without him we would
be quite a lot further down the ladder.
