Hi John & all,
I though I'd sent this to the reflector, but it seems not, only John replied
and it's not in the archive so here it is again.
Decide to change tack a little from normal with the new rules in place. As I
will only, under normal conditions, be able to work 12-14 UK squares, spent
the bulk of the time, up to 2145, with the beam to Europe. This proved to
be pretty productive working 15 squares. I then swung inland and worked 9 UK
squares, the only one I missed was IO80 of those I could hear, conditions
being poor inland from here. In the end had 52 contacts.
Here's the map URL
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://www.rsgbcc.org/vhf/kml_files/2011/Kcup0IHFfgybPbw8EAfmnzqqlIi5NLR
My score, pre new rules was 280488, post new rules 105813. Quite a
reduction, 63% of the score lost, and that sort of points difference can't
be made up working UK, as the points per QSO are much lower. With stations
at the top of the table working 20+ UK squares and twice as many QSO's, it's
difficult to see how I can compete. Under the previous rules I had a chance.
The AX section seems to be the best option for me, as no antenna
restrictions, but do not use the 'KST option to arrange skeds.
Am in agreement with you on the IO83 situation. Things may improve as we go
through the year, as stations realise they can work further with a beam and
turning it.
What logger are you using now for this contest series, as TacLog doesn't
support it, as far as I know. Or are you manually changing the log
parameters? I've put in my entry as is, but the software seems to be
confused over JO00, I assume, as I worked 2 stations in that square, one in
France and one in UK, and it's only acknowledged 8 UK Mults not 9.

P.S. Pete is aware of the problem and it's in hand, see his post.
