Hi.
This is just a plea for the "new to CW" people who take part in these
contests.
There are a plethora of high speed stations at the bottom end, 3520 and up, but
the QRS Corral, 3560 to 3570 is normally underpopulated. When I have been up
there, I still hear people using 28 wpm, EVEN when calling some of the slower
guys.
We are supposed to be encouraging those new to CW contesting, so please do
slow down and give these guys a fighting chance! I have heard it said that some
don't take part because other stations don't slow down, but a good op should
match the speed of the station he is calling. These guys want Qs but will be
very
reticent to call an op at 30 wpm, so ends up in run mode at 12-15 wpm with no
takers.
Yes, I realise it is a contest! However, a little consideration goes a long
way to
helping the newcomers. I am sure it will be appreciated, thanks.
Regards from Roger, G3LDI
Swardeston, Norfolk.
