If you include the other SSB contests that affect 160m - CQWW, CQWPX, 
ARRLDX - that makes it at least 8 days per year.

Our contest community gets a lot of criticism, this and the similar 
issue on 40m are the prime targets. CW is not a band plan issue as that 
is allowed on all frequencies, so only SSB, and to some extent RTTY, 
contests have bandplan issues. We aim on here to try and encourage 
newcomers to contesters, but with these sort of problems it is getting 
harder and harder. One of our club members says he no longer keeps 
contest QSOs in his main station log and does not send them QSLs as he 
does not consider 599001 being a 'real' QSO. If you look at GW4ALG's 
QRZ.COM page you can see the strength of feeling in some quarters. I do 
not support the views of Steve or those with similar views, but Steve 
was a close friend for many years. He has given up the hobby entirely 
now, and we have not spoken for several years, so I have lost a friend 
as well and you can understand how I feel.

We really do need to get our own house in order.
