Hello contesters,
Here's a round-up of news, some of which you may already have heard.
73,
Ed Taylor, GW3SQX
Chairman, RSGB Contest Committee
NOTES ON CHANGES TO THE 2011 CONTEST CALENDAR
The AFS Super League
<http://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/rules/2011/AFS-SuperLeague2010-2011.html>
continues -- the last contest for the current season is 70cm AFS on the
6th February.
In the UKAC <http://www.rsgbcc.org/cgi-bin/readcal.pl>s, only UK
multipliers will count (M5 replacing M2). In addition, a 10w section
has been introduced, as well as a "DX" section. The 23cm and "13cm &
up" contests will now take place on different days.
The backpackers' section has been removed from the 50MHz Trophy Contest,
but added to the 50MHz UKAC
<http://www.rsgbcc.org/cgi-bin/contest_rules.pl?year=2011&contest=6mukac&seq=>
in May, June, July and August.
By popular demand, the 21/28MHz
<http://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/rules/2011/r2128.shtml><http://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/rules/2011/r2128.shtml>contest
has been retained.
The first 1.8 MHz
<http://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/rules/2011/r1st-160m-2011.shtml> contest will
be on SSB as well as CW.
The first RoPoCo <http://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/rules/2011/rropoco.shtml>
contest will be an SSB event, and the power limit for the two contests
is reduced to 100w.
The HF Championship <http://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/rules/2011/rhfchamp.shtml>
now incorporates non-RSGB events, to encourage more participation on
various modes.
OTHER COMMITTEE NEWS
The RSGB Contesting Leaflet is available for general publicity.
The committee will shortly introduce a system whereby UBN reports can be
obtained for RSGB contests.
Contesters are finding the RSGB Contest Reminder
<http://www.rsgbcc.org/cgi-bin/vhfalerts.pl?Email=> system very helpful.
The committee is now enforcing start and end times for contests more
strictly.
Reflector users are asked to encourage newer contesters to join the
uk-contest reflector
<http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/uk-contest>, as part of
their "contesting education".
The committee now makes SDR recordings of some contests for possible use
in adjudication. Among others, checks are being made on misuse of
calling frequencies, "rubber-clocking", and illegal operation on
1800-1810kHz.
