I expect whatever CQ say, very few entrants apart from big stations 
will bother to record complete contests, or even less be bothered to 
scour through those recordings after the results are published.

>From my own UBNs, mainly from past CQWW, there seems to be a very 
strong trend in that miscopied serials and callsigns seem to be always 
with those stations sending far too fast for comfort. Things like R76A 
copied as R7BA (just made up that call) for instance and single digit 
errors in four digit serials sent at 50wpm, where the brain is 
struggling a bit and they only give you one opportunity. Add 'cut 
numbers' to the mix and it gets worse... In cases where the UBNs show 
that many people had copying errors with that station then presumably 
the penalty should be on them and not the recipients?

RSGB certainly did use to penalise 1 point for each seperate error, 
rather than the whole QSO points. Seems rather fairer to me.
