[UK-CONTEST] RadCom letters

A couple of years ago I had a short letter published in 'The Last Word'
suggesting that the vociferous anti-contest minority should make way for the
huge numbers of contesters and that RadCom should no longer waste it's
precious column inches on this sterile debate. The Editor added a note
agreeing and saying that this conversation was now closed. Maybe she has a
short memory! Anyway, an alternative tactic might be to flood her with
letters extolling the virtues of contesting. Otherwise that vocal minority
overly influences RSGB opinion and we are the silent majority. Moaning on
this reflector is preaching to the converted. I've heard it said that
contesting is one reason given for members resigning their RSGB membership.
Pah! Resigning is a really positive step to take, innit!
