There's a 5-year (to 2010) analyis of contest
loggers used in the IOTA contest at
http://www.ei5di.com/iotastat.html

There are a few things that SD doesn't do,
but what it does do it does nicely, and SO
unassisted users seem to like it. SD
supports ESM in both Run and S&P modes,
and does not have a CT interface.

There are reviews of all loggers at

SD is futureproof in that PowerBASIC's console
compiler is being continually developed. It
supports Unicode, and the latest version,
6.01, was released on 14th June.

Microsoft's console window feature is future-
proof, being an integral component of all
versions of Windows.

The free version of SD (V14.26) is available
from http://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/sd.shtml
It dates from April 2009.

The paid-for version is better - V15.43 was
released on 1st June.

They're both worth trying, especially for
anyone who has not considered SD for the last
10 or 15 years.
