As several folk have mentioned, the jubilee clamp approach works well.
I know from lending my mast to someone that it is very easy to make a
mistake with this technique. Don't use the clamp to apply pressure to the
fibreglass over the top of the two elements that make a particular joint.
This is what you do with aluminium antenna and mast elements. The fibreglass
will shatter.
Put the clamp on the lower part of the next section up. It doesn't need to
be tightened much at all. You're not trying to compress anything, its just
putting something immovable in place to stop the section telescoping into
the one below it.
All very much easier to do in practice than it is to explain...!
