Hello Tom,

I did try heatshrink but all this did is stop ingress of water. I still had
a section slip. I seem to have had similar experiences to the rest of the
crew here. For fishing blanks, the best seems to be Sky Blue Leisure at:

http://www.skyblueleisure.co.uk/acatalog/Telescopic_Poles.html)

and of course, the "grown up" versions with Spiderbeam.

The best solution (IMHO) has also been declared by Paul Beecham however in
my case, I also ran a few jubilee clips on the bottom of each section as
Stewart discusses: "fitted to the bottom of the upper pole at the top side
of each joint".

I also have a pair of Moonraker 12m masts. There are very heavy and require
much more effort than fishing poles but will also slip down under pressure,
as BUO discovered with his ebay specials.

Seems to me that they all slip, but liberal use of tape top and bottom and
jubilee clips on bottom of each section seem to minimise failures.

(I always mounted the jubilee clips on plenty of tape to make a softer bed
to clamp to and as a previous participant mentioned, all the black paint
peels off when you come to take it down - even with the smaller flag-poles).

Regards,

C.
