[UK-CONTEST] Wintest, CW and laptop

Dear All,
Help required.
I have Wintest 4.4.0 installed on my Sony Vaio TT11VN laptop running Vista. All is well except for CW.

When set up with a new contest file or when running a file set up and used on another PC, I cannot hear any keying on the sound system of the laptop. I therefore do not know if the unit is sending CW. Yes, the sound is 'on' in Wintest and the laptop sound system is functional.

Once I 'know' the laptop+software is sending code, I would have to key the rig via USB-serial convertor as there is neither a serial nor parallel port on the laptop.

Despite the lack of keying tone from the laptop I have connected the laptop to rig via the interface and a serial keying adaptor that has worked well previously but it will not key the rig. When the com port is allocated in set up and connected, the keying line is permanently closed..........OK for tune up but nothing else! At least that tells me the wiring is OK.....I think.

I am travelling to 9M2 in five days time and was hoping to do a little IOTA trip and will use WinTest in DXped mode. It would be VERY much better to be able to send CW using the software.

No CAT control required, although the serial USB interface did allow that function when I tried it in the past.

Any help or suggestions welcome, even if to say this will not work.

Thanks,

Keith GM4YXI / GM5X
