Fully agree G3YYD's reasons for low participation,  but how about 
another? - numerous likely UK Contestors were at the RSGB Convention.

Again I had only a short time for Radio on Saturday, and for me the more 
interesting event was the VK/ZL/Oceania Contest, in which I was pleased 
to give away some points. Additionally that was to make a token 
repayment to those down-under for their participation in BERU. I also 
heard several UK ops taking part in the SAC event.

Mentioning the EuSprints to several at the Convention on Sunday showed a 
total lack of interest, and bewilderment at their inclusion in the RSGB 
HF Championship. One comment was that it was not up to RSGB to promote 
other people's events and that because they were doing so that person 
was not making an effort in the Championship this year.

Regrettably the totally inadequate time for the Contest Forum (dominated 
by the "M5" argument re VHF events) did not allow the matter to be raised.
