Hello all,

The nozzles of petrol pumps are brass as this doesn't cause sparks for
filling cars which often had steel tank pipes. Of course back in the old
days petrol cans had brass filler caps and nozzles.

Steel jerry cans should be plated internally to avoid rusting.

Your proper funnel should have a wire mesh made of brass wire and be tin
plated which will filter out most of the rubbish. The remainder will
probably settle at the bottom of the tank & then the carb hence the need for
a periodic service to clean the filter if fitted or clean out the
carburettor float chamber.

As for petrol storage regs with a few acres of grass to mow 5l can go in a
few hours...

But we digress!
