I was on holiday when Chris phoned and gave me this shocking news. Now I am back and it is very moving to see the tributes to my good friend Cris.
We go back a long way, as friends and as operators together in many field days. Cris had enormous tenacity and skill, and could always get the best out of whatever equipment and antennas he was using.
One memory I have is of an early multi-multi operation from G0KPW which later became M6T. Cris was our 80m op and at the time we used a delta loop between two 100ft towers. Late on Sunday, SU appeared on 80m for the first time, a double mult. The world descended, and Cris joined the fray. When the hubbub subsided, the SU said "Kilo Papa Whiskey go ahead" - Cris completed the QSO then turned and beamed that enthusiastic smile and punched the air.
Rest in peace dear friend.
