Yes I do use computer logging - N1MM.
The paper work I refered to is certificates.
In 2008 I got a cert for first place in G - low power.
In 2009 I got a cert for second place in G - low power.
I don't know how many places get a certificate.
The walls are full of meaningless certificates (paperwork) and I'm sure
subscribers to CQ Magazine would like to save a few coppers on the postage.
If I don't submit a log then, assuming I would have come second, the third
position would get the certificate which could be appreciated more.
I can't accept the argument that the organizers/sponsors need a log to be
submitted so they know how successful the competition is. Of the logs they
get surely they can deduce how many stations were active.
I agree that every log available to the adjudicators makes the end result
for the high scoring stations more meaningful.
There are two simple solutions -
1) Have a field in the log header which says - don't bother with a
certificate.
2) Have certificates available online so one can choose to download it or
not. Some contests already do this and I'm sure it saves a great deal of
money.
I will submit my log later today.
