Hi Tim,
There is an event called Contest Exchange which could help you. It takes place at the RSGB Convention in October. The idea is there are willing hosts around a room with their station descriptions. You have the opportunity to meet them, and hopefully secure a strong enough network to agree to do a contest from their QTH.
If this is of interest, please consider coming along - it will again be part of this years Convention. More details will be in March RadCom.

I've expressed my interest in participating in a major contest before with no takers, I can't do anything serious on HF from home due to S9 QRM from Plasma, SMPS etc, so I've improved my VHF and UHF set up so I can at least do reasonably well in the activity contests.
There are people who are interested but it can be quite difficult to get the invite...
