Sincere thanks for all of the responses both on and offlist.
 
It is clear that the Heatherlite range is not highly regarded although there are a couple of users who have satisfactoy usage but they are guys who know what they are doing and how not to go about using it.

thank Ian Burns for that one,. It does appear that almost a complete rebuild is necessary in some cases. Anyway it is clear that it is not a suitable amp for heavy demands. I really appreciate the guidance as to which type of eqp't to go for.
